Rabbi Rod Glogower presents different topics in Jewish law each Tuesday evening using texts from Tanach, Talmud, classic and contemporary rabbinic works. English translations of texts provided.
Examples of some topics covered in the past are abortion, conversion, business ethics, medical issues, Jewish statehood, relations with non-Jews and the theology of prayer. All are welcome. Discussions focus on issues in different areas of law, philosophy and theology. Students, community members and faculty participate, as do visiting Judaica scholars.
The class meets on Tuesday from 8:00-9:30pm at University of Michigan Hillel.
Rabbi Glogower teaches Talmudic texts for beginning and intermediate students of Jewish law on Thursday evenings at the Hillel Foundation. All are welcome.
